Young asylum seeker declared brain dead after delay in treatment for wound

A 24-year-old asylum seeker who developed septicaemia after cutting his foot at the Manus Island offshore processing centre has been declared brain dead in a Brisbane hospital, a refugee advocacy group says. A spokeswoman for the Immigration Minister said, ‘The individual has not died. In respect to the family of the individual further details are not able to be provided’. Original article

Ice use on the increase in Victoria

A report by a Victorian parliamentary committee has found that there has been a significant rise in the use of crystal methamphetamine, the more potent and dangerous form of ice, particularly among people in their 20s.
