Australian Institute of Sport
AIS leads the development of elite sport in Australia. Their website includes a section on information and research on sport, at: http://www.ausport.gov.au/information/

The Australian Sports Commission is a statutory authority of the Australian Government. ASC is the Australian Government body that manages, develops and invests in sport at all levels. It works closely with a range of national sporting organisations, state and local governments, schools and community organisations to ensure sport is well run and accessible. A snapshot of how Australian families spend their time

The Australian Institute of Family Studies produced this facts sheet in celebration of National Families Week 2007, 13-19 May 2007. Authors: Jennifer Baxter, Matthew Gray and Alan Hayes. The statistics it presents are derived from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey, the Growing Up in Australia: Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) and the Australian Bureau of Statistics' 1997 Time Use Survey (see citations below).

Safety guidelines for children and young people in sport and recreation

The Safety guidelines for children and young people in sport and recreation and the National Smartplay program, announced by the Australian Government in October, are intended to make sport safer for young Australians by providing clear and practical advice to people involved in sport. The guidelines introduce uniform safety practices based on good preparation, correct techniques, appropriate equipment, safe sporting areas, protective equipment and modified rules for children within community sport. The Smartplay program was initially developed in South Australia and Victoria. This website helps sporting clubs, schools and local councils to meet their risk management responsibilities in relation to discrimination, harassment and child protection. The website provides practical information, resources and free online learning courses on how to prevent and deal with all forms of inappropriate behaviour in sport and recreation.
