This centre conducts research which describes and analyses the social understandings, meanings and practices of peoples, institutions and communities in relation to HIV, Hepatitis C and other communicable diseases. Their research is used to inform government and non-government organisations, other research institutions, health educators, other health care professionals and community members.

Located within the Faculty of Health Sciences at La Trobe University, this centre is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and applied skills in sexual health research and education locally, nationally and internationally. The centre also carries out research into same sex attracted youth. The site contains resources for both students and teachers for project work.

YEAH (Youth Empowerment against HIV/AIDS

YEAH is a not-for-profit organisation promoting HIV/AIDS awareness to young people in Australia and New Zealand. YEAH operates without government funding and is staffed by volunteers. The aim of the organisation is to educate Australian youth about combating the spread of AIDS in our backyard, and to connect young Australians to this global issue. YEAH produces resources and study guides of interest to teachers, educators and youth themselves.

FPQ offers clinical, education and training services from metropolitan and regional locations in that state. FPQ, in collaboration with Queensland Health, offers training in the area of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C and sexual health promotion with young people. This training can be customised to suit the needs of organisations and services accessed by young people. Training is also available as a self-directed learning package, based on their CD-Rom, 'HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C and sexual health promotion with young people' (rev.2006). FPQ has provided sexual and reproductive health services to the wider population of Queensland since its first clinic session in 1972.
